Bronze Silver Gold
We are excited to showcase our summer's work at the Giant Jamboree 2015 in Boston! Experimentally validated and showed success on one of our key Biobricks, BBa_K1813026! Learn more about it here! Having interviewed a variety of key stakeholders and conducted an environmental safety report, we identified concerns over the spread of our engineered bacteria into other organisms. To address this, we worked with G. apicola and S. alvi , microaerophilic bacteria native to the honeybee midgut that would not be expected to survive at environmental oxygen levels. For more details, see here!
Created a Team Wiki! Welcome, you're already on it! Successfully submitted one of our key Biobricks, BBa_K1813026, to the Registry! Learn about the part here! We improved BBa_K1197013 , a composite part of cytochrome P450, CYP6G1. We attempted to improve on the previous work by Middle East Technical University (METU) 2013 by adding a pelB signal sequence. Check our improved part, BBa_K1813064, here !
Completed the Judging Form! Due to the importance of bees, a variety of stakeholders are involved. Through interviews, we identified a variety of policy and perception issues, and addressed these through a combination of reports, public engagement activities, and media engagement. Please visit our policy and practices timeline here! Created a functional prototype in the form of bees carrying our transformed bacteria. Experiments were conducted to determine their susceptibility to imidacloprid to replicate real-world conditions. Check out the prototype experiments here!
Created an attribution page for our team members, advisors, host labs, and sponsors on the wiki. Check it out here!
Check out all of the Biobrick parts we submitted into the iGEM Registry this year here!
We hope to see all of you at our poster presentation on Saturday, September 26th, at the Giant Jamboree 2015!
