We are the spiritful and passionate METU High School Ankara Team. Like the competition that we had last year we are again ready and enthusiastic to compete in iGEM. Because one of  our mottos is to find fresh ideas all the time, we have a team  that consists of new members every year. As high school students, we believe that iGEM means more than a synthetic biology competition. It provides us to think creatively, promotes out teamwork abilities, helps us to cope with responsibilities, improves our problem solving abilities and more!

Hey, iGEMmers! I’m Ece, an eleventh grade student in METU High School. My team mates call me E. coli since my name sounds very similar to it and I love the wetlab. This is my second year at iGEM and I'm really enjoying every moment of it. I love to spend my days and nights at the lab for projects. Besides discovering the synthetic biology world we learnt how to work in a team, having responsibilities and much more. I believe iGEM has been  a great opportunity for me since I want to have a Molecular Biology degree in the future.

Hi, everyone!  I’m Ezel Erkan and it’s my first year in METU High School Ankara iGEM Team. I love genetics very much. So, I thought that iGEM would be my favorite extra-curricular activity. I really enjoy doing experiments and making research about biology. Therefore, I want iGEM to be in my life in the future too. iGEM makes me think about things that seem very unimportant at first sight but are worth to be researched further and discovered. School. I have been a member of the iGEM team since last year. I noticed my interest in molecular biology two years ago and explored this interest last year by the help of iGEM. That’s why I decided to be a part of this year’s iGEM team again.  With the help of iGEM I learnt lots of things about bacteria which I can’t learn at school. iGEM has many benefits like helping us to think more deeply and faster. Thanks to iGEM, I have improved myself in synthetic biology. Moreover, it helped me to be more creative which again affected my other classes in a positive sense.

Hi I'm Dilara Özden I'm a 10th grade student in METU High school. This is the first year for me in iGEM but I was interested with  molecular biology and genetics before I heard about iGEM. I talked with a lot of people who are educated in molecular biology and learned about their experiences. When I heard about iGEM  I thought that it would be a really good experience. It seemed also kind of fun to me and I became a member of iGEM METU HS. This decision of mine taught me to think about every little piece of thing, how to make a scientific research, how to work as a team and I experienced how to work in a lab. iGEM increased my interest in molecular biology even more.

Contact Contact us any time! Hey, iGEMmers! I’m Ece, an eleventh grade student in METU High School. My team mates call me E. coli since my name sounds very similar to it and I love the wetlab. This is my second year at iGEM and I'm really enjoying every moment of it. I love to spend my days and nights at the lab for projects. Besides discovering the synthetic biology world we learnt how to work in a team, having responsibilities and much more.
