iGEM, or International Genetically Engineered Machine, is an international synthetic biology competition that was initially aimed at undergraduate university students, though has now expanded to include graduate, “over-graduate”, and high school students, as well as entrepreneurs and community laboratories. This year, iGEM community has expanded to over 18,000 members from more than 30 countries.
