We are the spiritful and passionate METU High School Ankara Team. Like the competition that we had last year we are again ready and enthusiastic to compete in iGEM. Because one of our mottos is to find fresh ideas all the time, we have a team that consists of new members every year. As high school students, we believe that iGEM means more than a synthetic biology competition. Contact Contact us any time! Hey, iGEMmers! I’m Ece, an eleventh grade student in METU High School. My team mates call me E. coli since my name sounds very similar to it and I love the wetlab. This is my second year at iGEM and I'm really enjoying every moment of it. I love to spend my days and nights at the lab for projects. Besides discovering the synthetic biology world we learnt how to work in a team, having responsibilities and much more. I believe iGEM has been a great opportunity for me since I want to have a Molecular Biology degree in the future.

Hi, everyone! I’m Ezel Erkan and it’s my first year in METU High School Ankara iGEM Team. I love genetics very much. So, I thought that iGEM would be my favorite extra-curricular activity. I really enjoy doing experiments and making research about biology. Therefore, I want iGEM to be in my life in the future too. iGEM makes me think about things that seem very unimportant at first sight but are worth to be researched further and discovered. Hi! I’m Ezgi, an 11th grade student at METU High school. My biggest passion in life has become biology after I got introduced with iGEM. I see iGEM as a big opportunity to discover and learn something new. iGem is something that is specially tailored for me because I really enjoy working in the lab. Moreover, I want to study genetic engineering abroad so this will I believe a great experience for me. Hi, I’m Bengisu Birer and I am an 11th grade student at METU High School. I have been a member of the iGEM team since last year. I noticed my interest in molecular biology two years ago and explored this interest last year by the help of iGEM. That’s why I decided to be a part of this year’s iGEM team again. With the help of iGEM I learnt lots of things about bacteria which I can’t learn at school. iGEM has many benefits like helping us to think more deeply and faster. Hi I'm Dilara Özden I'm a 10th grade student in METU High school. This is the first year for me in iGEM but I was interested with molecular biology and genetics before I heard about iGEM. I talked with a lot of people who are educated in molecular biology and learned about their experiences. When I heard about iGEM I thought that it would be a really good experience. It seemed also kind of fun to me and I became a member of iGEM METU HS. This decision of mine taught me to think about every little piece of thing, how to make a scientific research, how to work as a team and I experienced how to work in a lab. iGEM increased my interest in molecular biology even more. Selin Şahin Human Practice Hi! I’m Selin Şahin. I am a 10th grade student at METU High School. This is my first year in METU HS IGEM team. I'm really interested in scientific research. I first heard about IGEM at school and I wanted to join them immediately. I think this is a big and an important experience for me. I am really happy to be in METU HS Ankara iGEM and I love my team. Burak Kızıl Advisor Hey, I am Burak, a senior student at Biological Science Department in Middle East Technical University. After two years with iGEM as a team member, finally I welcome new iGEMers as an advisor. Introducing people with science, making them interested in synthetic biology and seeing their passions are the most attractive sides of iGEM. We enjoy doing science! Şeniz Yüksel Advisor Hey Grounders! I’m Şeniz Yüksel and this is my third year in an iGEM Team. I’m studying Biology at the Middle East Technical University. This year, I'm advising two teams in Turkey, METU HS Ankara and METU Turkey teams. The best part I like is to spend time working in the lab. In iGEM I can find the opportunity to develop ideas and to be a part of science. We are all working and giving our best for our project. I enjoy being a part of science, iGEM. Hi there, I am Tuğba İnanç Gök. I am a Biology teacher at METU High School. As an educator I willingly volunteer to any kind of scientific project that gives my students the opportunity to become scientist of the future. Therefore, doing iGEM in high school is the best opportunity for me and for my students. Although, all iGEM steps and processes require hardworking, nothing makes me happier than seeing how synthetic and fun biology is. Nevertheless, it makes the students enthusiastic in the field of area. I have always been interested in synthetic biology and genetic engineering personally, but I learned that the best part is to explore this world with my students.
