Team description

The iGEM TecCEM team is the second Collegiate team participating in the iGEM Competition from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Campus Estado de México. We are 9 Biotechnology Engineering and 1 Mechatronics Engineering, two instructors, and three advisors. The team was founded on the 29th of November 2014. From then on, we tried to identify problems in our community and the appropriate form to address them with synthetic biology. Together, we discussed several proposals and concluded that working with the bionanotechnological development of a nanoparticle capable of capturing lead ions from water-based solutions was the most suitable project to work with for this competition considering the innovative approach it posed, and the enthusiasm we had for venturing into this study field. We are quite excited to attend to the 11th iGEM Collegiate edition of this competition.
