About Our Project

"Ouch! It's hurt!" At this instant, we might have got hurt already. As the wound appears on the skin, we became vulnerable to bacterial infection. Bacterial infections could slow down the wound recovery. In some cases, if the infection is not properly treated, it could lead to severe consequences or even devastating amputation. Currently, antibiotic is the method of choice to fight bacterial infection. However due to over use of antibiotics drug-resistant bacteria frequently appear, such as MRSA. The problem of MRSA effect around the world. In Taiwan, from 2005 to 2014, there are over 50% bacterial infection is cause by MRSA. These are the problems we faced in our daily life.

To solve this problem, we apply Antimicrobial peptide (AMPs), are stable peptides that have extensive ability in bactericidal effects. Often time bacterial infection prevents wounds healing. We apply E. coli to express AMPs and purified it. The objective of this project is to combine AMPs and dressing to develop into a potential medical dressing.
