Gender equality issues haven’t become commonplace in Indonesia. On the present day, there are many things that often mistaken about gender equality issue in Indonesia. Concern about population explotion that happen in many countries, our team decides to make a new inovation of contraceptional method. We design an ovules shaped contraceptional method, which contains bacteria that have been genetically engineered. Our product has high effectivity due to the existence of spermicidal effect on the engineered bacteria. Moreover, the engineered bacteria doesn’t damage the normal flora in the vagina. On the other hands, our product is harmless for human body .

Like contaceptional products that have been there before, our products are also used by women. We decide to do this because  the bacteria’s biological properties is suitable with the vagina condition. Some people doesn’t feel reluctant with our decision, but some others do. They have objections because : If contraceptional method used by women, it seems that women only made the object of reproductive health/family planning. This protest has lasted long enough, but the impact is not massive.

In fact, this is not entirely wrong due to the implementation of family planning in Indonesia (especially in the new order era), women are often force to use an IUD without being given enough information about contraceptives, while the men were never given education about contraception and family planning. It creates a perception that gender equality is not an issue in the election of contraception and family planning in general. Because a lot of people do not have a preference as to who should use contraceptives. The selection of ovules that used in the vagina as an innovative artificial contraceptives which made by team is not a big problem.

Although gender equality is not a big problem in family planning implementation, men must have partcipated in family planning to. Men and women attempt to obtain a balanced and accurate information about family planning so that the decisions taken a joint decision, not one of the parties and men and women jointly determine the type of contraception that will be used, including when they decide to use our contraceptive product. Just like  spermicides , contraceptive effectiveness of our products can be enhanced by the use of condoms by men. Under this condition, the role of men in the use of contraceptional method are required. Men and women must work together in the use of contraceptives to achieve success in family planning.

Social Justice Investigation on Bacterial Contraception

A. Current Condition in Indonesia Gender equality issues haven’t become commonplace in Indonesia. On the present day, there are many things that often mistaken about gender equality issue in Indonesia. Some people may understand, but some other still think that gender equality means that women will dominate men. Because of this misunderstood, we can’t generalize Indonesian’s perspective toward gender equality. In family planning, some people still believe that: it’s women nature to raise children. Moreover, contraceptional method usage often linked with women. Family planning participant in Indonesia also dominated by women. Although the status quo shown that family planning implementation seems unfair for women, we (still) can’t say that the situation is a kind of gender inequality, because gender equality is relative, depending on the extent to which people respond the issue of gender equality. So, it’s depend on the women responded.

B. What Will Happen if the Issue is Connected with Bacterial Contraception  ?

C. If This isn’t a Big Problem, How about the men’s role in Family Planning ? Although gender equality is not a big problem in family planning implementation, men must have partcipated in family planning to. Men and women attempt to obtain a balanced and accurate information about family planning so that the decisions taken a joint decision, not one of the parties and men and women jointly determine the type of contraception that will be used, including when they decide to use our contraceptive product. Just like spermicides , contraceptive effectiveness of our products can be enhanced by the use of condoms by men. Under this condition, the role of men in the use of contraceptional method are required. Men and women must work together in the use of contraceptives to achieve success in family planning.

D. What are the Ways to be Done to Realize Gender Equality on the use of Contraceptional Method ? 1. The government should create a policy that men must participate in family planning programs 2. The government must supervise and control the implementation of family planning in health centers 3. Government , hospitals , health centers and non-governmental organizations should monitor and control the circulation of Bacterial Contraception in the entire region . To prevent misuse of the product 4. Government in cooperation with non-governmental organizations to establish a men's care agency (An agency that concern about family planning, health & gender equality issue for men) 5. NGOs must disseminate the importance of the implementation of family planning for men 6. NGOs should conduct a survey on the effectiveness of Bacterial Contraception as contraceptives for family planning and gender ratio of participants of family planning after the dinvention of Bacterial Contraception 7. Academics need to educate about theBacterial Contraception and it’s reproductive health benefits for men and women 8. conduct research to create new contraceptives that can be used by both men and women 9. The husband and wife jointly plan the number and birth spacing by taking account of age, health, mental readiness and family economics’ condition 10. When using Bacterial Contraception , doctors or paramedics should remind men to keep using condoms . In order to increase the effectiveness of the contraceptive method 11.
