Monsanto

Our team was fortunate enough to not only be sponsored by Monsanto, but also were able to interact with this company and learn more about how syn bio fits into the industry.

Initially, a representative from Monsanto,Prashanth Vishwanath, came to BU to learn about our research and tell us a little bit more about Monsanto. We presented an initial version of our work and got some feedback. It was interesting to hear what he said as he comes from a very different background than our principal investigators and PhD mentors. He gave us more information about what kinds of processes would have to take place in order to actually get our split protein methodology into not only other research labs but for even further real world applications.

Later, we were also able to tour their facilities. We experienced what it was like to do a quick pitch about our project, which extremely helpful later when we were summarizing the most important details of our project. While touring the facility in Cambridge we saw…..and this helped us learn...
