Her research focuses on developing gene regulation and genome engineering tools for applications in gene therapy. She’s excited to be involved with iGEM at UNC after enjoying her experience as an undergrad on the 2010 University of Illinois iGEM team.</p>

<p>Taylor is a senior from Southern Pines, NC majoring in Biomedical Engineering. She is a Lucas Scholar and NC Space Grant recipient. She works in Dr. Bateman’s Osteoporosis Biomechanics laboratory where she studies bone loss. She will complete her Honors Thesis in this lab studying the effects of Hind Limb Unloading and spaceflight on bone loss in mice as well as the effect of Sclerostin Antibody countermeasure using Finite Element Analysis. In addition, she completed an Additive Manufacturing Research Experience for Undergraduates on the effect of architecture on bioactive glass scaffolds for bone repair. She also completed a study computing structural and material properties of human ribs. She is the Biomedical Engineering Student Chapter Co-President. She loves dogs and enjoys exercising.</p>

<p>Alanna is a senior from Raleigh, North Carolina.  She is a Biomedical Engineering major with minors in Applied Math and Applied Physics.  In addition to being a member of the UNC iGEM team, she will be completing her Honors Thesis in the Dayton Lab in the upcoming academic year, where she is studying the effects of dual frequency ultrasound waveforms on microbubble cavitation for cancer treatment.  Her research interests include synthetic biology and cancer technologies. Aside from research, she works as a volunteer EMT and heads the philanthropic efforts of her sorority.  In her free time she enjoys socializing and playing sports with her friends.</p>
