Safety in iGEM

Dress Code

In order to work in the lab, certain attire was required. This included long pants, long hair tied back, and close-toed shoes. When needed, there are also lab coats, gloves, and masks available

Lab

Our laboratory space is a level two facility. It has controlled access, a biohazard disposal bin, an autoclave, a fume hood, a biosafety cabinet, an eyewash and shower station, and a fire extinguisher and fire alarm.

Training

Each team member has gone through training in proper laboratory behavior. This included aseptic technique in order to prevent contamination and similar safety concerns.
