Our Project
Background
This year being The International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies, we were inspired to investigate potential uses of light in synthetic biology. One such application is optogenetics. Optogenetics is defined by the control of cellular dynamics using light. It allows for the ability to control the translocation of proteins, transcriptional activation and other potential uses.
