kindergarten

Motivation

Education can’t be limited by age, even for children in kindergarten who are impossible to know what synthetic biology is, we still can let them know that there are many possibility for things could be done through creativity.

Preparation

  1. Drawing paper
  2. Color pens
  3. Lantern with E.coli logo

Flow

  1. Introduction_5min or under
    • We are big bros and sisters from HSNU, and we com for introduce our friend — E.coli.
  2. Principle explain_10min or under
    • Take out the prepared lantern with E.coli logo, by using the way we introduce friend, we taught the kids that our E.coli friend can determine weather the food is healthy or not.
    • Put lantern in front of a salad (claim its to let E.coli smell) and say there’s no reaction by not turning on the lantern.
    • Put the lantern in front junk foods (McDonnell) and make it glow by turing on the lantern and claim it is because the food is unhealthy.
  3. Interactive time_30min or under
    • Hand out drawing papers with E.coli logo to kids and ask them to design their own super E.coli
    • Discuess the result with the kids.
  4. Photographing and recording_10min or under
    • Take pictures while we are explaining the principle
    • Record soundtracks for our documentary
  5. After promotion
    • Photo their drawing individually and return back to the kids
    • Present accessories of HSNU-TAIPEI
    • Discuss the result with the kindergarten teachers to know the improvement.

Improvement

  1. We did not guide the rules for drawing properly.
  2. Someone did not wore the uniform.
