Uchile-Openbio iGEM team
The team consists of 14 members and is a multidisciplinary, collaborative & nonprofit group. It was funded in 2013, by students of Universidad de Chile. The team’s main objective is to boost SynBio in Chile through the Open Source Philosophy.

Hector
Name: Hector Ampuero Occupation: Student of Chemical Engineering iGEM work: Design and construction of bioreactor for the project. iGEM favorite moment: Tito also helped us on fundraising by selling a beverage called "Terremoto" (earthquake in english) on different places. That's why we named Terremotito. It is funny because in Chile we usually add to the words the suffix ito/ita just because, and it fixed perfectly. Description: Tito is a very happy person, optimistic and comprehensive that's why it is a pleasure to work with him. Sometimes he gets angry with bacteria when he design the reactor but is ok. Likes to (hobbies): He likes playing football soccer, playing table tennis, listening to music(spanish rock and some chilean groups), dancing, walking and watching beautiful landscapes.
Gustavo
Name: Gustavo Calvo Occupation: Studies Engineering in Molecular Biotechnology iGEM work: Logistic coordinator and laboratory work Likes to (hobbies): He likes riding bicycle iGEM favorite moment: When he won the second prize in a competition presenting our project!; when he broke a tip box pipetting :P Description: He is always offering himself like a volunteer to do different things related to the project, and he has a huge networking!; after an OpenBio activity in our university he was crushed by another car, and fortunately he saved unharmed.
Diego
Name: Diego Lagos Occupation: Ms. on Chemical Engineer iGEM work: Diego is the nerd of the team: his job was to encode the wiki content designed by Natalia to make it visible for everyone. Description: Diego is always ready to explain anything to anyone and makes sure that he was understood. As a Magister Student, he wants undergrade students to know the overgrade's world by opening lectures to the undergraduated. In his view, collaboration is a central value, for he encouraged the formation of the Synthetic Biology Platform and brought a lawyer to help deciding which kind of organization this platform would convert into. Likes to (hobbies): He must like biking since he always get to the lab in bike!
Luis
Name: Luis Rodríguez Hernández Occupation: Studies Engineering in Biotechnology iGEM work: General coordinator Likes to (hobbies): eating and participate in various organized groups Description: He is the best principal coordinator we would have had! He is always concerned about us and the progress of the project, and destined most of his time to make our group a great team. He really cares about the environment and needlessly waste material so much when SUFE should be thrown away so many points in the laboratory. iGEM favorite moment: When he realized that the entire team could travel to U.S.A

Natalia
Name: Natalia Urtubia Occupation: Industrial designer iGEM work: Corporative image Likes to (hobbies): Dancing zumba, built things with her own hands. Also she likes growing and taking care of plants in general. Description: She has very a lot of skills on teamwork. She adapt to our necessities and really understand what we need. Javiera
Name: Javiera Gómez Occupation: Studies Engineering in Biotechnology iGEM work: Generation of content Likes to (hobbies): Make nail art to herself and her friends Description: She is a joyful and entertaining woman, her friends call her "Jabibi". Her creativity is reflected in her unique style, her nails haha, and her collaboration in tasks of design, she always volunteers to help when needed. iGEM favorite moment: When we had to record the Crowdfunding Video to fund our trip. Ita was a very fun moment.
Jose
Name Jose Duguet Occupation: Student of P.HD on Chemical Engineer iGEM work: Coordination on lab work iGEM Favorite moment: lasts days on the wiki work, when we all stayed at lab all night long. Description: Jose is a really amazing person as an entrepreneurial profile has allowed him to develop multiple skills in various areas that go beyond the laboratory. Although he could not attend the iGEM competition, he is considered one of the main pillars of our project. Likes to (hobbies): Being in the lab more than in his own home.
David
Name: David S. Millan Occupation: Studies Engineering in Biotechnology iGEM work: Communications and Social Networking Likes to (hobbies): Pass the time with his son iGEM favorite: moment After a long saturday meeting, his car didn't star because he left the car lights ON so we have to push the car to try to turn it ON. We didn't achieve it and finally someone help his recharging the car battery Description: He is always doing networking with people who could collaborate us with the project development.
Noemi
Name: Noemi Miranda Occupation: Communications Officer at Center for Biotechnology and Bioengineering. iGEM work: Project communication, outreaches. She also helped us with our Official Clothing and merchandising stuff. iGEM favorite moment: When she took photos of our main Activities. Description: She is a very energetic and enthusiastic person. She likes journalistically cover projects that involve a high challenge.

Name: Juan Asenjo Occupation: Phd. on Chemical Engineering, University College, London. College professor at the Universidad de Chile. Director on Center for Biotechnology and Bioengineering. iGEM work: Feedback in advance presentations, economic support on our activities. iGEM favorite moment: When he found that there was a team interested in participating in iGEM Research Areas: Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology.
Alvaro
Name: Álvaro Olivera Occupation: Phd. on Chemical Engineering, college professor at the Universidad de Chile. iGEM work: Feedback in advance presentations. iGEM favorite moment : Encouraging our self learning, our teacher didn't tell us the problem of lactyl-CoA. That problem was a determining factor on final PLA production. Research areas: Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology, Protein Engineering, Structural Bioinformatics, Mathematical Modeling of Biological Systems, Synthetic Biology
