  December 5: Professor Carolina Alduvín presents the Project proposal to the Honduran Institute of Science, Technology and Innovation, (IHICETI).

December 11: Professor Alduvín is notified that her project proposal passes to the second round.

December 15: Professor Alduvin is interviewed about the project goals and methods and gets the grant to develop it.

December 20: Signed contract with IHICIETI

December 27: The first check is delivered by IHICIETI. The check is received by Professor Alduvin.

 January 19: The Teams gets organized.

February 2: IGEM UNAH 2015 Team opens a savings account at Banco Atlántida. It is a join account and withdrawals can made only with both firms.

February 3: Johan Reyes and Diana Sabillón went to the Dean to deliver a letter telling about what the Project is all about and to ask him to endorse their activities.

February 4: Madeleine Osorio and Diana Sabillon talked to the Director of Student Affairs about the IGEM competition. He mentioned that they could get help from DICU, the office in charge of scientific research .

February 8: The Team works writing a proposal to apply for funds from the DICU.

February 10: The Team has a lecture on the Nagoya Protocol derived from the Convention on Biological Diversity that could in the future restrict the use of biotechnological products.

The iGEM UNAH 2015 Team is registered in the iGEM Giant Jamboree competition

February 13: Ali Rubio gets the first results in databases.

February 14: Miguel Torres (designer) presents the logo of the team IGEM UNAH 2015 Team.

February 16: By law the Team has to get 3 prospects on prices to make legal purchases of materials and equipment.

February 22: Starts our training by an Immunologist,

February 24: The team has a beneficial night at the KFC restaurant Boulevard Suyapa at 5 pm for the purpose of raising funds for the project.

1 to 28 of February: All members of the team continue with the search and collection of bibliographic and on line references.

March 12: Sobeida Núnez published on Facebook the format of the list for the raffle (it is a dinner at the Clarion Hotel for two)

March 13: Diego Ardón discovers a database that resulted extremely useful: IEDB: free epitope database and prediction resource.

March 18: Sobeida Núñez has the gift certificate ready for the dinner in the Clarion Hotel for the winner of the raffle.

March 20: Meeting in the building of biological sciences in the classroom 304 at 2:00 P.M For the photo of the group.

March 22: Meeting of the Team to distribute the search of linear epitopes in the databases.

March 26: The whole team has to send the list of epitopes that has searched in the databases for advances and to discuss which epitopes will be in use.

March 31: The Team continues with the intensive search of bibliographic references.

April 10: Meeting with the Immunologist Dr. Carrasco, in order to analyze the strategy to generate our synthetic bacteria and to update what has been done.

April 12: Professor Alduvin publishes at MTY is getting lab training to replicate with iGEM UNAH 2015 Team.

April 13: The team meets with Dr. Carrasco again to agree on issues of importance for the advancement of the Project

April13-18: First laboratory training at Tec MTY for Carolina Alduvin.

April 14: Today was concluded with Dr. Carrasco is important to make various designs of our final product, so we use different software to make the first of protein consensus sequences of the different serotypes.

April 22: Osman Meza announces that the Team is accepted into the iGEM 2015 competition.

April 23: Our DNA kit is in Honduras, Professor Alduvin gets it from customs.

April 28: A presentation is prepared to show the project at TEC- MTY to all Mexican and Honduran teams and their advisors.

April 30: 7 members of the IGEM UNAH 2015 Team, travel from Honduras to Tec MTY in Mexico

April 1 to 30.  Review of bibliography.                                                             

The team is notified about having passed to semifinals of the contest GlobaI Initiative on Science and Technology (GIST).

May 30: Arrival of IGEM UNAH 2015 Team to the TEC MTY, Mexico.

May 1: Presentation of the project IGEM UNAH 2015 Team at TEC MTY.

May 2: The Team  in a meeting to propose ideas for IGEM.

May 3: Laboratory practices on insertion of plasmids to transform bacteria taken by the IGEM UNAH 2015Team.

May 6: Raising of bacteria cultures in a Microbiology laboratory of the UNAH. (It was all a success).

May 11: A campaign to collect votes for the GIST contest starts in all mass media, the more the votes, the better chance to get into the finals.

May 12: Publication in the Facebook team page on times and dates of the labs to make competent bacterial cells.

May 13: Video recording and editing took place during the weekend. An informal talk about the project was given to members of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) at a meeting of town governments in Honduras; in return we got their support and commitment to promote our activities.

May 18: The schedules of laboratory practices in the laboratory of Dr. Fontecha were established.

May 19: IGEM UNAH team meeting with Dr. Carrasco for advice on  Immunology. The team waits for the response of the US Embassy to grant visas to our memebers.

May 21: Osman Meza made a video call with Ana Sifuentes to agree on outstading issues in the team.

May 24: Juan Sifontes prepared and published the design team shirt IGEM UNAH.

May 26: Sobeida Núñez searches best prices to saw and embroid our shirts in college bookstore and local stores and workshops.

June 2: Meeting of the Team to prepare paper work for the US visa.

June 7: Four members of the team travel from Honduras to Mexico in order to get training at UNAM in Mexico City and Cuernavaca.

June 12: Meeting of Team members remaining in Honduras to take agreements on important issues.

June 26: Osman Meza filled out an IGEM form to enroll the team in the track of Health and Medicine.

July 10: It was published on the official website of iGEM the Team's schedule for the week in Boston.

July 13: Meeting of the Team at the university to assign to each member of the remaining tasks to perform, and show the progress done at the time.

July 15: Meeting of the Team at CEUTEC to show the progress made in Mexico. Osman Meza managed to post Project Description in IGEM

July 22: Two Team members presented the project at TEC / Comayagua to freshmen and teachers.

July 23: Juan David Sifontes delivers the final sequences for the 5 designed proteins.

July 29: Juan Carlos makes an agreement with a programmer to assist in the Team on wiki making.

July 31: Juan David gets the nucleotide sequences for the genes coding the 5 designed proteins.

 August 4: The IGEM team receives from the President of Honduras a check to pay for our trip to Boston, Julieta Castellanos, President of the University and the Director of IHCieTI are with the Team at the ceremony.

 August 5: Two members of IGEM team travel to Danli to present our project and to perform lab practices. Publicizing the project and motivating students to pursue scientific careers.

August 8: Meeting at Professor Alduvin´s place to prepare the design of the poster with every single detail.

August 14: Professor Alduvin sends the order for the 5 biobricks, main issue on our Project, to transform our bacteria.   

August 21: Professor Alduvin announces that enzymes are already in Tegucigalpa and takes them out of customs.

Team meeting in the UNAH to establish new assignments to each of the members.

 

August 22: The team is notified that genes and are on their way to Honduras is estimated wait about four days to reach Tegucigalpa

August 27: The IGEM UNAH gets at Chiminike on Patents and intellectual property. Talks on the stay of our project to motivate young people and encourage them to research.

2 to 3 September: Meeting of team and growing the bacteria in the microbiology laboratory of the UNAH. Prior preparation for their transformation.

September 7: One of the most anticipated IGEM team UNAH and in the final transformation of the bacterium days.

September 26: Presentation of our Project in Boston from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM in room 304 of Hynes Convention Center.
