Giant Jamboree Update
We were awarded a Gold medal at the 2015 Giant Jamboree Awards Ceremony!
Our team also received nominations for:
- Best Energy Project
- Best Model, Overgrad
- Best New Basic Part, Overgrad
The results for all teams can be found on the iGEM Results page.
Medals
Our Judging Form has all the details of what qualified us for iGEM medals.
A summary is below:
Bronze
- We registered for iGEM, had a great summer (winter for us), and 6 representatives attended the Giant Jamboree.
- Completed the Judging form.
- Created and shared a description of our team's project using this iGEM wiki, and documented our team's parts using the Registry of Standard Biological Parts.
- We presented a poster and a talk at the iGEM Jamboree.
- Created a page on this wiki with clear attribution of each aspect of our project.
- Documented one new standard BioBrick Part or Device central to our project and submited this part to the iGEM Registry.
Silver
- Experimentally validated that one new BioBrick Part ChlM of our own design and construction works as expected.
- Documented the characterisation of this part in the Main Page section of the Registry entry for that Part/Device.
- Submitted this new part to the iGEM Parts Registry.
- Demonstrated the identification, investigation, and addressing of Human Practices issues in the context of our project.
Gold
- We demonstrated a range of innovative Human Practices activities. We reached out to industry through the Business Implementation Strategy, collaborated with other iGEM teams, engaged the public in So You Think You Can Synthesise, dispelled common myths about chlorophyll and its uses. Additionally, we also started the first Transcontinental iGEM Internship Program in Australia.
- Helped another team in a significant way by troubleshooting a synbio problem.
- Improved the characterisation of a previously existing BioBrick Part, GUN4 and entered this information in the part's page on the Registry.
