A model system for our model
The most difficult part of modeling a biological system is finding parameters which accurately describe the processes of interest. We were aware that we would not be able to obtain exact parameters for the repressor and activator proteins we wanted to work with. For this reason, we decided to turn to the best characterized example of gene regulation out there: the lac operon.
