Motivation

Vitamine A deficiency is common in poor countries but rarely observed in developed countries. Common symptoms of VAD are visual loss (night blindness and xerophtalmia), impaired immune function, cancer and birth defects. It is caused by insufficient consumption of vitamin A and iron deprivation. between 250,000 and 500,000 are going blind each year because of a vitamin A defficiency It increases maternal mortality and decrease the efficiency of lactation. VAD is also increasing the severity and the susceptibility to infections according to the WHO report " Global prevalence of vitamin A deficiency in populations at risk" fortifying food with vitamin A is costly
