AlumniGEM/Mentorship/Mentors
Great mentorship is the key to success in iGEM. Mentors will be expected to meet online with their teams at least once per month to guide them through the process of experimental design, wiki creation, and part submission. One or two mentors will advise each of the six selected teams, and they will be supported by a mentorship program coordinator.
If you are interested in gaining experience in teaching, giving back to the iGEM community, and expanding your iGEM contact network, apply to be a mentor for iGEM 2015! All mentors must have at least 2 years of experience in iGEM, with preferably one of those years being on an iGEM team (but not required). Potential mentors will be evaluated based on their leadership abilities within their respective teams and their experience in mentoring others within iGEM or in other contexts. Anyone with at least two years of iGEM experience as a participant or team advisor is encouraged to apply.
Additionally, a special mentorship workshop will be held at the iGEM Jamboree, where those who participated in the program and other jamboree attendees will be invited. We will discuss everyone's experiences so we can make the program even better next year. If you are selected to be a mentor, jamboree attendance is encouraged, but not required. We hope to see you there!
The First Round of Applications for Mentors are due on Friday, June 19th at 23:59 U.S. Eastern Daylight Time (UTC-04:00).
