Collaborations - TAS Taipei iGEM Wiki

Collaborations

iGEM has always been a platform for students to collaborate and share valuable ideas. We extended the bond that National Yang Ming University (NYMU) and Taipei American School had last year and continued to provide each other with feedback and laboratory help. They have been both an excellent Advisor Team and Collaboration Team.

NYMU -> TAS

NYMU has been extremely supportive of our project by providing parts, education and modeling data that is critical to make our project comprehensive.

  1. They gave us the part with yebF which is a motor protein that brings our product out of the cell. This became essential to our project because it allows our protein to be delivered out into the reservoir and available to diffuse through the bandage.
  2. Furthermore, NYMU hosted an educational summer camp that allowed members from the 2015 TAS_Taipei team and the 2016 TAS_Taipei to attend and learn. (Image on right)
  3. NYMU has also been supportive for helping us with research and running the model for diffusion, bandage, and the ACT inhibition model. They provided us with modeling expertise, literature values for our models and debugging expertise.

TAS -> NYMU

In addition to NYMU’s help on our project, we also collaborated with NYMU

  1. Provided them with the LuxR part which is pivotal for their oscillator. LuxR is essential for their oscillator which is used to report the presence of a malicious spore in the device part of their project.
  2. We also helped NYMU by running the initial experiments for their Microbial fuel cell prototype (image on right) for their project. We provided them with initial test results of the prototype for their project so that we found the correct soil to water to bacteria ratios(August 2015).
  3. Three members of TAS (Alvin, Fiona and Huiru) are members of both NYMU and TAS teams. They worked at NYMU over the summer for the NYMU_Taipei team and are presenting with the team at the jamboree!
